There will never be another JoJo. We miss her every day. But at only a year-and-a-half, Minky is part baby herself and misses her friend. The other night we were watching videos of Jo and she was barking playfully. Minky went and got her ball and then her blankie and looked around for Jo so they could play……:( We just about lost it. But it made us realize we – all of us – needed a puppy.
A sweet young friend (thank you, Kristy!) adopted her sister and told us about the pups. Mom is an award winning, papered and ported to the Midwest for breeding, red merle, Australian shepherd. She was winning Best-in-Show awards by eight-months-old. Dad? Well, dad was the bad-boy-next-door-neighbor opportunist who violated every principle, except nature. Near as the breeder could tell, he was a shepherd looking dog except with short fur. She said he had good lines. (I think she added that as a sort of consolation prize.)
Anyway, eight puppies later, one of them is now ours. It’s probably too much to hope that she will be as dainty and diminutive as her sweet and beautiful mother. But she has a great disposition and she and Minky are already best buds.
Minky’s training her to join in a game we play where we throw a ball to her at the top of the stairs and she tosses it back down to us. Now she’s throwing it to the puppy at the bottom and she’s catching it. :) (Was there any doubt that both dogs are extremely bright, precocious, and clever, and that their owner is modest, humble, and demure?)
This is our new “little” Bodie with our Bo:
She is CHUN-KAY. I just hope dad wasn’t a nice, smooth, sort of shepherd looking Bull Mastiff.

(Please forgive the absence! We’ve been occupied with a puppy and a crazy get-a-way for Grizzly and I that can ONLY be blogged about. Be by to visit soon!)
Awww! Darling! So much fun. Also, I would like to know what would be wrong with a bull mastiff?! :-) I have a Rott Mastiff mix tho, so I might be prejudiced. :-) Glad you had an awesome weekend. We had a great week-wish it would have worked out to see you, but that's what I get for being disorganized. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet puppy.
ReplyDeleteAdorable. Congrats, mama!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's an adorable puppy. I like the half and half of his coloring, too.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful! You are too funny... Bull Mastiff, can you imagine? I can't wait for the day we all agree to move forward with a forever dog again... I am so ready and after seeing sweet Bodi well the urge is even stronger!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute pup!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet face!
ReplyDeleteOh boy...we have a miniature Australian Shepard...she is MISCHIEVOUS! She is almost 9 months old now and is a red tri.
ReplyDeleteI hope your pup isn't near as bad about unrolling a whole roll of toilet paper and shredding it to pieces all through your house.
Or chewing up brand new flip-flops.
Or learning how to open the garbage can lid only to strew trash everywhere.
Or chewing off the edge of the couch.
Or chewing off the rung of your dining room chairs.
Or, stealing your heart and never returning it.
ohhhhhhh...I LOVE puppy bellies! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, what a cute pup. I hope you have lots of love in your family that this pup is part of.
ReplyDeleteBodie is so cute! I love her markings. How big will she get?
ReplyDeleteAlso, glad you guys had a nice getaway!
She's beautifully sweet!! Looks like a perfect fit for your family. Without a doubt you'll enjoy her and the feelings will be more than mutual :-)
ReplyDeleteOh the sheer joy of a new puppy, chewed wires, shoes, slippers, mangled post coming through the door, piddle puddles to step in! Your new furbaby looks wonderful. I always think puppy breath smells of warm biscuits - then one day you wake up to the fcat that they are growing up as the not so sweet smell of dog breath whafts its way up your nostrils only to floor you with its intensity, like taking an extra big sniff of a sewage pit when you thought you were inhaling nectar from some sweet smelling roses!
ReplyDeleteMay your new baby continue to bring you endless joy!
Oh! Bodie is so cute I can hardly stand it! That patch over her eye... Man, I would so get a companion for Riley, but considering he keeps trying to shove the ipad off my lap, I don't thi k there'd be much tolerance for another living creature taking away attention from him ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
Ohhhh. Now I have puppy envy...Sooooo adorable!!! And I can well imagine that your puppy has kept you extremely busy!!! And you KNOW I'm looking forward to hearing about your "bloggable" getaway!!! Have a fabulous week, dear, dear Robynn!!! Love you much!!! Janine XOXO
ReplyDeleteOmigosh! Don't you just want to kiss that cute little freckled tummy?? That puppy is SO adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteYou got yourself a keeper, there!
What a sweet puppy....love the photos...and am sooo glad that Minky is teaching her a new game...and that they are best 'buds'...
ReplyDeleteI got teary-eyed when I read about your watching the video and MInky going and getting the ball and blanket and looking for Jo...
Love,
Jackie
That's no mastiff face. She won't be that chunky. I promise. I know mastiffs. She is cute, though! Enjoy your new baby.
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! Dogs are natural pack animals and especially a dog that's had a "companion", really feels a loss. So glad you have a "new addition" to your family!!
ReplyDeleteCute puppy...just what you need I think!!
ReplyDeleteHappy you had some get-away time...everyone should have that once in a while!!!
Cheers
The fur covered members of our family have such a way of stealing our hearts. Ours got out of the backyard the other day and I felt certain that we had seen he last of him. My relief was almost indescribable when he trotted back home!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet new addition!
We can never replace our furry loved ones but we can move forward and shower new love and receive new love as well!
Blessings

Ahhh. I Love puppies. Mom just got a Great Dane puppy. He's 10 weeks old and weighs in at 22lbs. Holy cow! He weighs almost as much as my two year old.

ReplyDeleteAh - a puppy! A miracle on paws! Enjoy...
ReplyDeleteHe - or is it a she - should give you lots to blog about! ;-)
